How to Remove a Watermark from a Photo

Removing a watermark from a photo you own takes four steps: upload it, mark the watermark, let the AI rebuild that area from the rest of the picture, then compare and download. Here's how each step works and what to expect from the result.

Only upload content that you own or have permission to modify. Removing watermarks from other people's copyrighted work may violate their rights.

  1. 01

    Upload your photo

Open the image tool and drop in your photo. JPG, PNG and WebP files up to 20 MB are supported. The file goes to private storage that only your account can read.

  2. 02

    Mark the watermark

Use AI Auto Detect to let the tool find the watermark for you, or draw over it yourself with the rectangle or freehand tool. You can zoom, pan, undo and reset until the selection is just right.

  3. 03

    Run the clean-up

The AI rebuilds the marked area from the surrounding content. The rest of your photo stays pixel-for-pixel identical to the original.

  4. 04

    Compare and download

Drag the before/after slider to inspect the result. If a faint trace remains, adjust the selection and run it again. When you're happy, download the cleaned image.

Before you start: what you're allowed to edit

Watermarks exist to show ownership, so this guide is for photos you took, client work you're licensed to modify, or drafts carrying a proof overlay you own. If a photo belongs to someone else and the mark is theirs, removing it and republishing the result can violate their rights — a clean-up doesn't change who owns the picture.

Drawing a selection that actually works

The tool only changes what's inside your selection, so the box should hug the watermark with a small margin — enough to cover a soft edge or a translucent halo, not so much that you throw away good pixels. Zoom in while you draw, and if the mark repeats across the frame, add a selection for each copy instead of one giant box. Getting the selection right matters more than running twice: each clean-up counts against your daily allowance.

What results to expect

On clean or simple backgrounds, the watermark usually disappears completely. On busy, textured or detailed areas — fabric, foliage, water, a face — a faint patch can remain, because the AI is reconstructing the area from what surrounds it. No tool can guarantee a perfect result on every image. Tightening the selection around the watermark and running the clean-up again usually improves the outcome.

What happens to your file afterwards

Uploads and results live in private storage, are never listed publicly, and are scheduled for automatic deletion after 24 hours by default. Download your result before then, and keep your original somewhere safe so you can re-run with a tighter selection.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to install anything?
No. The tool runs in your browser — upload, mark, process and download without installing software.
How many photos can I clean for free?
Three image clean-ups a day on the free plan. Premium raises the limit to 100 a day and adds HD export.
Does it change the rest of my photo?
No. Everything outside your selection stays identical to the original, pixel for pixel.
Why can I still see a faint mark?
The area is rebuilt from the pixels around it, so on busy textures a trace can remain. Narrow the selection to the mark itself and run it again.
Can I remove a watermark from a photo I don't own?
You shouldn't. If the photo and the mark belong to someone else, removing the watermark and publishing the result can violate their rights.

Try it on your own photo

Free accounts include 3 image clean-ups a day. No software to install.
